Year 9 visit to Oxford Museum of Natural History
On Friday 9th December, the Science department trip to the Oxford Museum of Natural History gave Year 9 scholars the opportunity to engage in educational talks by professors from Oxford University, learning how life on Earth has changed over millions of years. After hearing these inspirational research lectures, scholars explored the museum’s huge collection of fossils, skeletal recreations and geological wonders. Scholars showed exceptional understanding of many of the exhibits and were successful at completing a scholastic treasure hunt while discovering the museum.
The first lecture was a whistle stop tour of the theory of evolution with Sarah Lloyd. Later, Palaeontologist, Erin Saupe talked about the connections between life and environments over millions of years and the key questions on the origin and conservation of biodiversity.
The trip was really interesting and I enjoyed looking around the museum at the fossils and other artefacts.
