Year 9 University Workshop

Year 9 students were introduced to university life in a workshop hosted by the Bath Spa University widening participation team. Through a series of activities, current Bath Spa students mentored groups of students explaining about university life.

Students came away understanding new jargon associated with university such as graduation; degree; campus; dissertation; seminar; lecture; fresher; prospectus and halls. Students also had the opportunity to interview their mentor to find out what degree they were studying for and their educational routes to date.

The benefits of going to university were discussed in detail and any myths about affordability were dispelled through a ‘true or false’ activity.
