Year 9 step back in time at historic prison
The Shepton Mallet Prison school visit on 13 March 2025 was an absolutely incredible experience. From start to finish, the visit was engaging, immersive, and deeply fascinating.
The historical depth of the site, combined with the knowledge and enthusiasm of their team, made the tour both educational and atmospheric. The stories shared brought the prison’s past to life, making us feel as though we had stepped back in time. Exploring the cells, learning about the prison’s former inhabitants, and experiencing the eerie yet captivating atmosphere was truly unforgettable.
The Escape Room experience was an absolute highlight of the visit. The setting within the historic prison made it feel so authentic and intense, adding to the excitement and pressure. The puzzles were cleverly designed, keeping them thinking and working together right up to the final moments. Even though only three of the groups managed to escape, every team had a fantastic time, it was challenging, immersive, and just the right level of difficulty to keep them all on edge. The thrill of trying to break free inside an actual prison made the experience even more exhilarating.
I’ll definitely be recommending this experience to friends, family, and colleagues, it’s a must-visit for anyone with an interest in history, crime, or the paranormal.
