Year 9 Royal Agricultural University Trip
Year 9 students attended the Royal Agricultural University as a follow on activity from the workshops they attended in school. Students were given a tour of the University campus and were informed about all aspects of university life. The visit had an authentic feel as they attended the workshops in one of the lecture theatres. Students were requested to create and design their own universities and present their ideas to the group and RAU student ambassadors. They were primed beforehand in how to present to an audience. Some innovative University suggestions were: Western Uni Sports Campus; Luton Visuals offering degrees in computing and fashion; Belgrade Uni which specialised in zoology and animal biology. The winning team were the creators of Uni of Arts as their presentation was both informative and articulate. Year 9 really enjoyed their university campus experience which has given them an insight to Higher Education choices.
Feedback from the students included: "the workshops were engaging and informative," "I learned that University is different from school and is much more independent," "the ambassadors were so kind and helpful and I learned a lot more about university which was very interesting," and "10 out of 10 – would do it again."
