Year 10 history trip to London
Year 10s went to London to strengthen their knowledge of their Britain, Health, and the People GCSE unit. Scholars spent their morning exploring the Science Museum, getting the chance to look at Louis Pasteur's microscope, 18th century amputation saws, and even a sample of penicillium mould which Alexander Fleming used to research the first antibiotics!
After lunch, Year 10 headed to the Old Operating Theatre in Southwark, the oldest intact operating theatre in Europe. After braving a winding three storey spiral staircase, Year 10 were treated to a talk about early 19th century surgery; one of them even survived a gruesome simulation leg amputation!
Year 10 were an absolute joy throughout the trip and did the school proud; multiple facilitators commented to their teachers on how polite and engaged they were.
