Storytelling Workshop

Barbara Freeman / Categories: News

This week we invited students from Haydon Wick Primary School to a storytelling event with Mr Hetherington. Rather than focus on the written word, we asked the students to think about how we tell stories out loud to one another.

Inspired by events like The Moth we asked students to spend up to two minutes telling a true story about: a funny thing that happened to them, an exciting or amazing thing that happened to them, a dream they have for the future, or something that they were passionate about.

Mr Hetherington led the way, telling a story about the time he got to play baseball (badly) in America (everyone seemed to like the idea of him being hit in the head with a baseball). The Haydon Wick pupils followed suit and told some fantastic stories about rogue shuttlecocks, slippery staircases, trips to Spain, and Little Mix concerts.

It was a great event and we can safely say that there are some great storytellers in Swindon.
