Nova equestrian team riding high
This year saw the creation of our National School Equestrian Association (NSEA) team. Despite an outbreak of equine influenza at the start of the season that saw events cancelled and horse movement restricted, it has been a very successful first year for the team. Team Captain Molly (Year 11) and her horse Mr P are the Rein and Shine 2019 Spring Series Champions in two classes, they took a second at Summerhouse and won another West Wilts event. They competed in the Welsh Masters and we are delighted that Molly represented the school with humour, integrity and professionalism. She’ll be much missed next year.
Year 10 Issy, and her horse James were placed at their first British Eventing challenge at Ascott Under Wychwood with a great dressage score and a double clear. Another double clear at Solihull saw them qualify to compete in a higher league next season. She rode Finn at Oxstalls and Broadway School Equestrian Games (SEG) and has qualified for the National Championships to be held in October!
Well done to all the team members for working so hard for your successes.
A very special mention to Mr P, who sadly passed away in June. He was the most exceptional horse and will be much missed. Our condolences to Molly and her family.
We are looking for new members for next season, if there are any more horse owners out there who’d like to compete please get in touch via Dr Clapp.
