Magical Maths for primary visit

Barbara Freeman / Categories: News

We were pleased to be joined by pupils from Rodbourne Cheney and Haydon Wick Primary Schools for a fun day of Potter Maths.

The primary students arrived after having been sorted by their respective sorting hats into Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.

They then undertook workshops based around a Potions lesson, a Quidditch lesson and a Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson.

Nova Hreod’s staff were assisted by our Year 7 able mathematicians dressed as witches and wizards to lead the workshops. All the activities were mathematics with a Harry Potter theme and the primary school pupils enjoyed learning how to calculate the cost of a broom in both muggle and wizard money, the probability of selecting a nasty flavour from Bertie Bott’s Beans and the effects of adding fire or ice cubes to potions.

All the pupils were a credit to their schools and we look forward to them returning for more magical studies.
