Barbara Freeman / Categories: News

On Thursday 14th July, Mr Barton proudly received a School Achievement Award on behalf of Nova Hreod Academy, which was presented at the first ever Swindon Education Excellence Awards at the STEAM Museum.

The award was presented in recognition of the “massive improvement in outcomes achieved in 2015-2016 which are improving the life chances of the young people at Nova Hreod Academy.” The event was sponsored by Zurich Municipal and awards were presented by Councillor Fionuala Foley, Mayor Eric Shaw, and David Jones, national education manager at Zurich Municipal.

During the ceremony, Joanne Thompson from our Modern Foreign Languages faculty, was awarded the Teach First “Teacher of the Year” Award. Teach First is a national charity that works very hard and very effectively to place our country’s brightest and most able graduates into schools. Miss Thompson has been a teacher at Nova Hreod for two years through the Academy’s link with Teach First.

Principal Mr Barton said: “I was proud and humbled to be able to accompany Miss Thompson to receive her Teach First Teacher of the Year Award which was a tremendous accolade for her.”
