Christ Church Charity Dog Fun Run
On Saturday 15th June the Christ Church Dog Fun Run was held. This concept was developed by three of our Year 10 Business students, as part of a project in their lessons. It was a wonderful event with at least 30 dogs and 60 humans taking part. The event started with the competitive 5K race around Lawn Woods – which was won by Jacob and Disney in 21mins 59 seconds. A fun run of 2K followed shortly after, and then everyone went back to the church for a Dog Show, with rounds of Waggiest Tail, Best Trick and Most like its owner.
We are proud to say that over £300 was raised. The day was such a success that Christ Church has decided to run it again next year.
Chris Smith, the operations manager at Christ Church, said:
“I would like to give a special shout out to Ryan, Phoebe and Marley for coming up with the idea and helping to implement it from the start to the end of the event. Also, to their teacher Mrs Evans and other staff from Nova Hreod who have given up their time to help with the event.”
Thank you to Mrs Gawthorne, Mr Delap, Ms Sweeney, Hamilton, Charlotte and Grace for giving up their time to help with the event, and to everyone who came along to enjoy the day.
"Christ Church was a fun experience and we loved seeing the community being brought together”
Phoebe
"This was a fantastic opportunity, given to us by Chris at Christ Church, to develop an entrepreneurial idea and see it come to life. It has been great for them to come up with the idea, and then be involved in the marketing planning and the logistics of the day."
Mrs Evans
“It was one of best achievements of my life”
Marley
"We had so much fun with the dog show. We all loved the competition, and getting involved. We would like to say thanks to the Nova staff who came to support us."
