BBC entrepreneur talks business at Nova
Year 10 and 11 GCSE Business students were excited to have a visit from Kathryn Burn, a contestant on this year's BBC TV programme 'The Apprentice'. During Business lessons this term the students have watched clips of this excellent TV show which pits candidates against each other in a series of business tasks, in order to impress Lord Alan Sugar. The eventual winner will get a £250,000 investment in their business idea. Episodes have included creating an app to encourage children to brush their teeth, creating a new brand image for a cruise ship and creating a computer game for a target market.
Kathryn lives and grew up in Swindon, so it has been great to see her do so well on the show. She talked about her experience of being on the show, but wasn't allowed to give any spoilers! Kathryn is also already a successful owner of two businesses 'My Christmas Pyjamas' and more recently, 'My Everyday Pyjamas'. She shared with us her experience of setting up and running these businesses, talking about important considerations involved in setting up a business.
