Another year of GCSE success at Nova
Students and staff are celebrating another excellent year for GCSE results.
Following 2015’s breakthrough results, which saw the school’s headline GCSE measure double to 60%, results have risen again. This year, 62% of students gained at least five A*-C grades including English and Maths.
This improvement is particularly reflected in the achievement of students eligible for Pupil Premium. 59% of these students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and Maths, which is up from 43% last year and 22% in 2014.
Several students did exceptionally well; congratulations to Jade Walters, Katie Goodenough, Naomi Hope and Tomas Ferreira, who all achieved 8 or more A* to A grades, and to Aaron Dowdell, Adam Foot, Anna Murage, Bradley Barker-Jones, Chelsea Jones, Chloe Cockshull, Chloe Collins, Chloe Kennington and Samuel Hewitt who all achieved 5 or more A* to A grades. In addition, the academy has also seen some very strong subject-specific improvements in Art, Business, Geography Music and PE.
Darren Barton, Principal of Nova Hreod Academy, said:
“We are delighted that we have not only sustained last year’s tremendous improvement, but seen another increase in our headline GCSE measure. This upward trend is a just reward for the dedication of our students, who have worked incredibly hard over the past two years, and our staff, who have been crucial to this success.
“What is particularly pleasing is that these results mean that students at Nova Hreod are getting the grades they need to move on successfully to the next stages of education and the world of work. Congratulations to all our students celebrating today – I hope they are all proud of their achievements and I wish them all the best for the future.”
